Christmas is over

So Christmas is already over and even though holidays always seem hectic, it was pretty good. Michaela and I drove down to Seattle and spent our time between my dad’s in Kirkland and my mom’s in Seattle. My mom has this amazing mid century modern house, that even though I lived in for years, still get blow away every time I go over. Michaela and I headed down on Saturday night and ended up picking up my little sisters (I have two half sisters, Hadley 7 and Haddyn 5) at the emergency room, where they had been with my dad and step-mom for eight hours. My step-mom wasn’t feeling well and it was taking forever to figure everything out. She ended up being ok, but had to stay there for a few days and it worked out great that we were around to get my sisters.  Andrew McMullen came down from Bellingham on Sunday and hung out with us for Christmas. We hit up the Skatebarn on Sunday night and met up with Nick Halsey, Dan Montgomery, Seth Holton and a bunch of other people. I hadn’t been there for long time, so I was dope to go back and I had a blast riding with everyone. After the Skatebarn we hit up Applebees and had the worst service in my entire life… It took 30 minutes to get a drink at like 10:30 on a weeknight… Not psyched. The next day we hung out at my moms and helped with some stuff around the house. My brother Hamilton was over all day and in the evening we had a nice little dinner with Chris, Mike, Andrew, Hamilton, Michaela and my mom… Christmas morning was spent at my Dad’s house with my little sisters, then we headed back to my mom’s to pack up and head back to Vancouver because Michaela had to be at work super early the next day for Boxing Day!! The photo above is a picture I took of Michaela at my mom’s… Andrew and I took a bunch of photos at my mom’s… I love that house!

In other news, I scanned a bunch of old film stuff from last year. Check it out on my flickr page.

More Consumption

This is what the mini Eams lounge and ottoman looks like! Michaela and I picked it up at a store called Molle lastnight… All we need now is the full size one!

Picked up two new pairs of glasses recently. This is a pair of Cutler and Gross that I’m super psyched on. Definitely the most “loud” pair of glasses I’ve owned.

And these are my new Paul Smith’s. More of an every day pair. They also stay on my face much better when I ride my bike than the Cuttler and Gross, which is nice.

I haven’t picked up many shoes lately, but I couldn’t pass up on this pair. A colab between Proper, a shop in Long Beach and Vans. I feel they are a very fresh breath of air as far as current sneaker colabs go. The details are amazing, fabrics are nuts and just the whole package is top notch. Big thanks to Nuno and Proper for setting me up!

Aquiring more shit

If you check out the MacNeil site, you know that I just picked up a DVX 100B. While everyone is moving to HD, I’m finally getting my first decent camera. I put it to work on my trip to Cali and I can’t wait to film more. I fell my knowledge of the camera is a bit like when I first learned Photoshop. I could make shit black and white and cut people out of their backgrounds, but there was sooo much more that the program could do… I can film, adjust exposure, etc. but I the camera is capable of so much. Just need to spend time with it…

Michaela and I just got our teeth cleaned… God do I hat that! For some reason, I’ve never really minded the dentist. I fell on my face in Vegas a few years back and ended up having to get a root canal… Everyone was feeding me all this shit about how it was going to be the worst thing in the whole world, but it actually wasn’t that bad… Maybe I’m crazy. I haven’t had my teeth cleaned in probably over three years, due to my lack of insurance in Seattle, but now that I’m in Canada, home of free health insurance, my teeth are sparkling!! But I swear this visit where all I had done was a cleaning, was more painful than my root canal… Oh well…

I’m starting a list of restaurants  in my Blackberry, so I’ll never have to go to a chain restaurant again. ha! we’ll see about that.

P.S. My flickr page has been rocking. Check it out.

Canonet

canon_canonet.jpg

Just picked up my Canon Canonet from the repair shop. I bought this camear for $50 on ebay over the summer, but I happened to get it the same week I got my Leica D-Lux 3, so the Canonet sat on the shelf for months and I didn’t pick it back up until a few weeks ago. When I bought it on ebay, it said it was in perfect working condition, but apparently it had sat for a long time because the body and everything was in perfect condition, but the shutter was seized. I had to get it fixed and it ended up costing $70… I just got it back today and even though the ebay post said it was in working condition, I’m not going to complain about spending $120 on this camera. I can wait to get photos back it’s been so long since I’ve shot a roll of film!

I just posted my December magazine review on Defgrip. Check it out here.

Catching up.

Not really sure where time goes, but I really can’t believe I’m heading to Seattle at the end of the week for Christmas… Seems like it was Summer like 2 days ago. Oh well… My week is pretty much shot just getting on top of everything after my trip to Cali… Even thought all the trips I go on are work related, there is always so much shit that needs to get done. Andy Chung is going to be interning for me after break. I’m super psyched to have him help out. He’s a cool kid and great designer. Hopefully I won’t be a complete mess… haha!

I’ve been updating my flickr with all the best photos from my trip… Trying to put up 12 a day for the rest of the week… Check em all out. The photo above is Travis Collier in the Vancouver Airport.

Oh yah. Because of Maicol Chavez, I’m now addicted to Twitter… Thanks man!!
