New Favorite Shoes

I picked up a pair of Adidas’ the other day… I had a random pair that I found at Nordstrom’s Rack a while back, but other than that, this is my first pair of Adidas’ since I had Sambas in elementary school. I guess this shoe is part of a series called “the clean pack” or something like that. It’s a super basic shoe with basically no branding on it. It’s based off the Rod Laver, but with a vulcanized sole rather than a cup sole. I can only imagine that Adidas saw the sucess of the simple shoe that brands like Common Projects were releasing and decided to come out with their own. I’ve always been into Common Proejects, but have hesitated to pick up a pair because of the $300+ pricetag. These Adidas were around $100 and I definitely don’t think they will be my only pair… I need to find some all white high-tops next.

Risky Business

So remember that scene in Risky Business when Tom Cruise and his girl are on the train towards the end… They are trying to get down and as the ride goes on, everyone starts to get off the train (except for that bum that they have to pull off). Well, that is me right now, minus trying to get down with my girl. The train is usually packed, but as my ride went on this morning, everyone slowly got off. I thought it was pretty weird, so I snapped a pic, then right as I was putting my phone back in my pocket that same Phil Collins song (i think it’s In The Air Tonight) came on in this DJ AM mix I’m listing to. How weird??? Haha. While I’ve been typing, this a few people have got back on my car, but when it’s usually packed with no room to sit, an empty car is real weird, then for the Phil Collins song to come on… That’s to random. I guess I’m just living in a movie. Haha

Photo apps

I just downloaded this little app to edit photos called Photogene. It’s pretty dope, but I’m surprised there is no black and white option. It’s the first app I paid for. The photo with the “cool” border is from the app and the other is just straight from my phone. Isn’t it rad how discolored my monitor is. Haha

Soap Box

Today was a bit better than yesterday. After running around to the Apple store, an Apple reseller, the Rogers Wireless store, I ended up back at the Apple and was able to get a new replacement phone for $250. Thanks to Chris Young for that tip! The sales guy that was helping me had no idea about the replacement thing and if it wasn’t for Chris, I’d probably still have a smashed phone. I did break down and get a case for my phone though. I’ve never been into cases, but I’m pretty sure if I had one, I would not be on my second phone in under six weeks. I picked up an Incase slider in while. I’m psyched on it! It’s super sleek and doesn’t take away from the design of the phone.

Still trying to get the backed up Defgrip database from my host. I talked to them today about it and was able to find out the file size…. It was pretty big… but that’s all I really know… Hopefully I’ll have it tomorrow.

I went to this Red Bull Soap Box race last Saturday. It was a great turnout, but I think the crowd was a bit confused. There was not much cheering and everyone just kind of stood there… A bit weird. I guess that’s how that Flutog even it as well… Not sure if people are expecting more, but I kind of felt bad for the people that participated in the event. They spent all this time and money building these soap box cars and when they got to the bottom of the hill, they’d be super psyched, start cheering, then realize no one in the audicene was reacting, kid of look around then walk off the track… Kind of weird.

Here’s some photos shot with my Yashica and a few with my Minolta. I hadn’t shot with the Minolta for a bit, so it was fun to mess around with it again. I love the 28mm lens and shooting with it really makes me want to do more 35mm SLR stuff…

Today Was My Day

So, today has been the worst day, definitely in the past five years, maybe in my life. I’ve been pretty lucky when it comes to file loss, computer crashes, etc. and while I’m knocking on wood right now, I have never lost more than a small handful of files… Well today, while I was working on a new website for Ludwig Clothing, I need to get a blog set up. I was having some troubles getting a mysql database going on their server and I needed to get a way from all the tech stuff for a bit, so I decided I could just quickly install a blog on the back end of my site, mess with the layout/template stuff, then get their backend stuff going later. So I use Mediatemple for hosting and they have this “one click” install thing that installs some web apps for you including WordPress… I’ve used this a bunch before and it works really good… I don’t know if it was because I was just over messing with small technical crap or what, but when I went to install the new “temp” blog, I did not create a new database and overwrote the entire Defgrip blog…. That’s like three years of blogging… I won’t go into much detail about that, but I fucked up big time and I had no database back up. For anyone using WordPress for their blogs… BACK UP YOUR DATABASE!!! There is a simple plugin that will do this for you (check it out here) and I am seriously freaking out that I did not have this set up.

After going through a bunch of stuff I found out that my host has a back up of my database and for only $125 I can get it going again. The only thing is the last time they backed up was in February of 08, so we are going to loose 6 months of blog posts. Considering a few hours ago, I thought I lost everything, I’m pretty psyched. I have to wait a few hours, but hopefully everything will be back up soon.

So, this all went down at like 4pm and I had been on my computer since the morning, so by 7pm I needed to get out… I called up Travis Collier and we went for a ride on the sea wall… After a good 20+ minutes of me venting to Travis about the whole blog thing, I got a text from Darcy about bike graphics… I have had some problems with my phone, not getting calls and texts, so this text was from a few days ago, saying something about how we need the new MacNeil bike graphics ASAP and to call him… The weird thing was I had already sent in the bike graphics, so while I was trying to figure out this text, I started to ride again, with my phone in my hand… After a sec I realized it was an old text that just came though and went to put my phone back in my pocket… when FUCK! I dropped it right on the glass… What a day. Deleted my whole blog, then shattered my iPhone…

I’m going to hit the Apple store in the morning to see if I can get my glass replaced, becaues the phone still works fine… even with it shattered… but who knows how much it will cost… It will probably be like $400 for new glass or $500 for a new phone…

So to top it all off… I came to this blog to do a new post and all my photos in the blog were gone…WTF??? I had no idea how this could of happened, since this blog is on an entirely different database… But I think I figured it out…. While I was fucking with all the Defgrip blog stuff, I went to re-upload all the blog photos, but I was logged into this blog to check out some of my config stuff in a different tab in Transmit… and with everything going on in my head I didn’t realize, but instead of uploading all the photos to the Defgrip blog, I uploaded them to this blog, overriding all my photos. DOPE!!!!

So, I don’t even really know what to say other than I fucked up BIG TIME today… More than I ever have in my entire life… I guess all I can say is BACK YOUR SHIT UP! I just typed a lot, so that’s it… I just hope tomorrow is better than today.
