I’ve been riding the seawall in Vancouver a bunch…

I haven’t been shooting that much film lately and I finally dropped a few rolls off to get developed yesterday. It’s kind of fun when the photos on the rolls are taken in so many different places. I think I had photos from like four different trips on there. The photos I posted below are from Seattle, New York, Portland, and Vancouver… and I have a few more that I’m going to post on the MacNeil site from our Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa trip.

My sisters last weekend when Andrew and I were in Seattle. We took them to the skatepark/real park, out for pizza, and finished with some ice cream. Can’t beat a day like that!

My brother in our hotel room in New York wearing a hat my mom made him buy… He actually wore it out all night and I’m pretty sure he wore it on the plane on the way home as well… I wonder where it is now??

Hamilton had a huge beard before our trip to New York. My mom was throwing a family party for Michaela and I and wanted Hamilton to shave the beard. He didn’t really want to shave it, but being the nice son he is, he was going to do it for our mom. The night before we flew out, his friends talked him into shaving in a handlebar mustache, soul patch, and huge sideburns just to freak our mom out… I don’t know what happened because the plan backfired and our mom actually liked it… I’m pretty sure she’s crazy, cus I thought he looked ridiculous!! He ended up rocking it on the flight out and even kept it for a few days, but shaved it before the party. Once we got back from NY, I didn’t see him for a few weeks, but by the time I did, he had grown the full beard back in…

Some shots from Nemo in Portland.

If you ever wonder what a photographer carries in his bag, this is a good example. This is the contents of David Lang’s camera bag strewn out on a table back stage at the Commodore in Vancouver before a Jokers Of The Scene/Deadmou5 show a few months back.

Some random photos from the past few weeks.

Corey interviewing me in my office.

Corey got a serious Canon setup recently. 5D Mk II with a 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2, and a tilt shift. I couldn’t help my self and threw the 50mm on my 1D and shot a few photos of Andrew.

Our hallway filled with bikes and lights.

The night Corey and Andrew were in town doing the interview on me, Travis Collier stopped by to pick up a new frame that Darcy had dropped off. I think Andrew took this photo.

My mom and Michaela got cupcakes and hats for me and Hamilton. Our birthdays are 1 day apart. It’s funny cus I’m three years older than Hamilton, but I swear he looks older than me in this photo…

I’m doing the art direction and design for Hamilton’s new album. This is a poster for a show they are playing in Portland on the 12th.

Josh and Chris Martindale at dinner with Michaela and I in Seattle. Thanks to Josh, I’m pretty sure I had the best steak ever that night!! Thanks Josh!

Beach on my birthday. Michaela took this photo.

I got some shoes. Common Projects, Vans, and Pierre Hardy.

I was in Seattle last week with Michaela and we stayed at my mom’s place. She had just picked up a record player a few days before we got there and when we my brother was over for dinner, we hooked it up and dug out some old records. My mom was a radio DJ for like 20 years and has always had a huge collection of records. My dad’s a musician as well, so I grew up with a lot of music. I remember listening to a lot of actual records when I was real young at the house I grew up in in Kirkland, but we switched to CD’s pretty early on cus my mom would get boxes and boxes of them from labels, so our record playing days faded out at a young age. I think it also had to do with the fact that the table we had broke and when you have everything on CD, why get a new record player. Throughout the years my mom’s record collection has grown smaller and smaller. We’ve moved houses, my brothers taken a lot, she’s donated a lot of the crap ones she got for free, but there’s still a nice stack of classic in a storage room downstairs (my old bedroom… haha). She’s been talking about getting a new table for a long time, but it wasn’t until her old tenants moved out of the downstairs apartment and gave her their old one last week, that we’ve actually had a table in our house. When Michaela, my brother Hamilton and I showed up, it wasn’t plugged in yet, but we got that thing going real quick. We didn’t have much time to dig through the records, but Hamilton grabbed a few and I snapped some pics of the albums he dug up. As soon as we have more space, I’m getting a table for our house, but for now, I’ll have to wait till my next Seattle trip… Here’s what we were jamming to.

It was my birthday when I was down there and we met up with my dad, step-mom, and sisters at the beach. They were all hanging out at this beach called Denny Park that was right down the street from the house I grew up in. I hadn’t been to that park in years, but it definitely brought back crazy memories. I spent so many days hanging out there in the summer and we’d always go watch the boats with the Christmas lights and stuff in the winter. It really got me thinking how much fun it was to be a kid.

So, like I said before, I was my b-day and Michaela hooked up some amazing gifts!! New clear(ish) Nom De Guerre X Oliver Peoples glasses. I have the black ones, but the clear are so hot! (Andrew McMullen shot that photo on the Burrard bridge the other day)

And then she followed those up with a Tolomeo desk lamp! Now my desk is super official!

So, since I’ve been twittering a bunch, I’ve been slacking on my blog. I’ve really been thinking about twitter vs my blog and I think I’ve got it figured out. Twitter is for random crap that happens throughout the day that doesn’t really matter… and sharing links and stuff that I might not post on Defgrip. But my blog should be where I document the important stuff… or more like a summary of what I’ve been up to… like my journal. It’s so rad to go back through old blog posts and look at old photos, but I’ve had twitter for over a year and not once, have I gone though my old posts and looked back on life. We’ll see if i follow through with it, but I’m going to try to step up my blog posts on here a bit.
