I’ve been messing with this tiltshift app for my phone. Below is a shot from Crankworx last month. I went up to hang out with Jill Kintner and Bryn and shot the photo from the camelback suite. And the second photo is just a shot out of my office window.

I always hear cars slamming on their brakes or super loud bangs and wonder, almost hope, that there was a car crash outside my window… I know it’s bad… But what can I say. I have never really seen a bad car wreck go down. I don’t wish that one anyone, but I guess I just hear what could be car crashes all the time, but never see anything… Well today was different. Around 9am I just getting to my desk and I heard a noise that was much louder and much more violent than any of the other noises I had heard before. With huge windows, it’s hard not to immediately look outside to see what’s going on and sure enough on the street right below our place a taxi and a city work truck had somehow smashed into each other. With the cars at their resting place it was really unclear as to what happened and after playing all the possible scenarios in my head I still had no idea who hit who… But somehow the taxi had spun 180 and smashed into a telephone pole or something.
As soon as I saw how real and serious the crash was I really regretted all of my thoughts about wanting to see a crash and began feeling horrible for the people inside the cars. The people in the city truck were fine and the truck was only smashed up a bit on the front left, but the taxi was another story. The driver was already out of the cab by the time I looked out the window, but it was pretty apparent that there were people in the back seat and most likely, someone was right in the line of fire when the taxi hit the pole.
After about thirty minutes and an appearance by the jaws of life, two people were taken away in stretchers and the taxi was removed from the street… It was pretty interesting to see how isolated a incident like that can be in a big city. All the people driving past in cars couldn’t really see the crash because it was blocked by firetrucks and ambulances, so all the passer buys wanted to do was to get to work faster, while for all I know, someone just a few feet away could be struggling for their life…
