Panasonic GF1

After a bit of hunting and putting my name down at a few different camera stores, Glazer’s in Seattle called me up on Tuesday to say they got a Panasonic GF1 with a f/1.7 20mm lens in stock and could send it up to Vancouver! $20  for shipping and one day later, I was the proud owner of a new GF1. I’ve only shot a few photos in my office last night and some on the way to lunch today, but I’m really happy with the camera and can’t wait to use it more.

Aquiring more shit

l1030229.jpg

If you check out the MacNeil site, you know that I just picked up a DVX 100B. While everyone is moving to HD, I’m finally getting my first decent camera. I put it to work on my trip to Cali and I can’t wait to film more. I fell my knowledge of the camera is a bit like when I first learned Photoshop. I could make shit black and white and cut people out of their backgrounds, but there was sooo much more that the program could do… I can film, adjust exposure, etc. but I the camera is capable of so much. Just need to spend time with it…

Michaela and I just got our teeth cleaned… God do I hat that! For some reason, I’ve never really minded the dentist. I fell on my face in Vegas a few years back and ended up having to get a root canal… Everyone was feeding me all this shit about how it was going to be the worst thing in the whole world, but it actually wasn’t that bad… Maybe I’m crazy. I haven’t had my teeth cleaned in probably over three years, due to my lack of insurance in Seattle, but now that I’m in Canada, home of free health insurance, my teeth are sparkling!! But I swear this visit where all I had done was a cleaning, was more painful than my root canal… Oh well…

I’m starting a list of restaurants  in my Blackberry, so I’ll never have to go to a chain restaurant again. ha! we’ll see about that.

P.S. My flickr page has been rocking. Check it out.

Canonet

canon_canonet.jpg

Just picked up my Canon Canonet from the repair shop. I bought this camear for $50 on ebay over the summer, but I happened to get it the same week I got my Leica D-Lux 3, so the Canonet sat on the shelf for months and I didn’t pick it back up until a few weeks ago. When I bought it on ebay, it said it was in perfect working condition, but apparently it had sat for a long time because the body and everything was in perfect condition, but the shutter was seized. I had to get it fixed and it ended up costing $70… I just got it back today and even though the ebay post said it was in working condition, I’m not going to complain about spending $120 on this camera. I can wait to get photos back it’s been so long since I’ve shot a roll of film!

I just posted my December magazine review on Defgrip. Check it out here.
